1) Elder C and I shot about 187 Prii (plural of Prius) ((I have no idea what this means.))
this week, which is about 30 higher than the record of Silverdale
(Sisters N and P) So we've been pretty prideful about that, which will probably lead to some kind of chastening this
week.
2) We played football today, Sister N drew me a picture of how I should run, and then I got a point, so that was cool.
3) I'm way sunburnt from today, which is actually not a highlight, but it kinda reminds me of the beach.
4) Alright this is kind of a long story, But It was the best day of the week, so I really want to tell you all about it. So, me and Elder C were trying to find this one kid, because he
skipped our appointment, but his mom gave us a general idea of where we
could find him in town, so we drive allllll over looking for him, and
eventually we track him down at this intersection. We meet him for a
sec, but he pretty much just blew us off again, so we were pretty
disappointed.
We started driving up this hill, to go to our next thing,
and as we reach the top of the hill we pass this guy pushing a shopping
cart up a hill. Elder C (who has been here in Manette since November)
says "hey wait a minute, was that Larry?" so we pull over and get out
and start talking to him, and help him push his shopping cart home. He
was supposed to go on a church tour a long time ago but never did, so we
re-set that up, and gave him a Book of Mormon. we were so happy! We asked if he
was planning on taking the shopping cart all the way back to the store
(about 3 miles away) and he's like no, I just leave it here... (then we
look and see he has like 10 stolen shopping carts haha) so we're like
"oh, don't worry about it, we'll take it back for you!"
So we start
pushing it down the hill, and within 45 seconds we meet this guy who
wanted a Book of Mormon, and is now scheduled for a Church Tour (henceforth
referred to as CT's), his name is Ronaldo.
Throughout our journey to the
store, we passed out twice as many Books of Mormon as we had planned for that day,
met like 3 or 4 new investigators, found 2 less-actives who just didn't
know where the Church building was in Manette (they both came this week,
they love it!) and had a mini bible bash with this very unhappy man. But at the end of the day, bible bashing never helps anyone come closer
to Christ, so it's a waste of time.
Anyways, the best part was this:
We are walking back, and we see this fundraiser outside Mcdonalds. I
really wanted a sundae, so I asked the people with signs outside if I
bought something if it would be for a good cause, and they said yes!
(it was dinner time anyways, don't worry, we are hardworking
missionaries!) So we go inside, and this really kind member from
another Ward bought us dinner! It was awesome- When Members do random
nice things like that, it's always so appreciated, because you get used
to people not wanting you around really fast. So it's AWESOME when
members drive by and even just wave at you, or when Youth pass by and
want to give you a high five or something. Reminds us that some people
do want us to keep doing what we do :)
Anyways, we are eating this
delicious meal sent from heaven, when we see one of Womanette's
investigators drinking a cup of coffee in a corner by himself. (quick
note, i don't know if I already explained this or not, but Manette (us)
and Womanette (Sister G and Sister V) share the ward and area) He
had actually been baptized last Sunday on the 15th and was scheduled to be
confirmed on the 22nd. But he had had a bad day, and had decided to quit
the whole thing. We didn't know this at first when we went to go sit
down by him, but he soon told us (at that very moment actually, he was
skipping an appointment he had with Womanette) we talked to him for
about a half hour, and we tried to help resolve his concerns. We didn't
say anything the sisters couldn't, or hadn't already, said, and we didn't
do anything that amazing, but we were at the right place at the right
time. The Investigator/New member even said a few times that he thought God had
put us there for a reason right then. I think he was right, all the
random stuff that happened that day, and all the random decisions we
made on the spot, led us right there. Brent (the investigator) was
planning on quitting everything, and breaking off all contact with the
church. Now, he has been confirmed and has the gift of the Holy Ghost. Heavenly Father has a
plan.
One last thing- You know how I got into raps in Lacey? I know why
now. Good raps are all about metaphors and analogies. I've been
getting really good at coming up with analogies on the spot, like in the
middle of lessons, and with random people we meet. They are a REALLY
effective way to teach. I looooooove analogies. Me and Elder C, and
Silverdale have been having analogy contests all week. I'm way into
them.
I LOVE my mission, I love the Gospel, I love you!
