Baptisms and Bieber

Maya was baptized!  Such a great day.  It's been a journey of a few years for her, and it finally happened.  I cant remember the last time I've seen someone so ecstatic after being baptized.  She's in her mid 60's, but you'd think she was about 16 :)     She was baptized with our Ward Mission Leader's daughter, who had just turned 8.  A bit unusual, but it was really special.  Elder B and I sang our rendition of "He Sent His Son."  I really like singing, and have been trying to sing as much as possible.  Singing as a missionary is the BEST.

The Mission Christmas party is coming up, and the Zone Leaders are in charge of having their zone prepare a song/skit or something to perform.  We also have new preparation day rules, stating that you can only congregate as a Zone twice each transfer (on the 3rd Monday, and the last Monday)  which means practicing will be very difficult/ nonexistent.  So at first we were discouraged, but then while walking home one night, Elder Burton and I rewrote all the lyrics to "Call Me Maybe" and we were stoked.  But alas, when we called Sister Weaver for approval, we were rejected because "Call Me Maybe" is apparently not classified as a Christmas song.

It's a cold, heartless world out there.

But Elder Burton and I picked ourselves up (metaphorically speaking- You can't actually pick yourself up)  and dusted off our shoulders (literally.  But how the dust got there, I have no idea) and rewrote all the lyrics to Justin Bieber's "Mistletoe".   (THANK YOU JULIETTE WARDLE!!!!)
Which is now "Knockin' On Your Front Door."  It's way good.  And I wrote a rap for it haha.  So we'll be having zone band practice today.

As far as investigators and stuff goes, I've never had a situation like this before.  We have about 4 people who are essentially unbaptized, active members.  We have no clue what to do about it.

My take away from the week is the power of the Atonement, and the reality of the living Christ.  I saw hard things, but I also saw the grace of Christ in a very real sense.  I'm so grateful for the experiences I've had on my mission.

Merry Christmas!
Elder Lonas
